Instead of using large & bendi buses at Kingswells X 40 would the smaller bus not be a solution ? Perhaps utilising the Crem & ARI  i.e. running round village, P&R to  Woodend terminus. Passengers would be able to cross to First Bus 11 or Stagecoach 17 & 18 services or to Crem &/or ARI ?

We discussed the size of the bus with First at the last consultation. It does not impact on the cost of the service too much. I think the reason we have big buses in Kingswells is because they are needed at the other end of the X40 route.

Good idea to try to link with 3 services. Any time waiting for your link would be minimised going into town. Going home the times between beaver buses would be longer than they would be if the beaver bus just went to the P&R.

Elsewhere I have seen people talking about the cost of onward journeys, and how this is affected by who operates the service.

The good thing about a beaver bus going to the P&R is the frequency of the links. Would be better if the X17 and X18 didn't come at essentially the same time, but I suppose that gives folk a choice of route.

The success of this option is dependant on how smooth the change between buses is, and the cost if we have to pay twice.

What do others think? Is this a viable option?

Thanks

Need smaller 'Beaver Buses' which are run by a local or community company that has an interest in the residents needs and not the share price.

If there is no direct route from Kingswells then provide a Small Feeder bus that travels around the village regularly (every 15 mins) picking up passengers and taking them to the P&R to give them a choice of other bus companies

Stagecoach taking over the route through the village would be fine, but some people who have an onward journey with First will have to pay for two bus passes.

As Kingswells is losing its bus service has anyone thought about having a circular bus that starts and finishes at the park and ride. The circular bus runs from the P&R along the Kingswells by-pass and then on to Kingswells crescent, turning up Kingswells Ave, then on to Kingswood dr and follow the old route to the P&R. The bus could run every 15 mins. If that is too expensive then why not run it as peak periods.

Introduce alternative types of service

  • Dial a bus
  • A bus that circles around Kingswells transferring passengers to the X17 or X18 at the P&R.
