It would probably be advisable to retain the X40 route via the Park & Ride otherwise it will lose it's "limited stop" status and will call at every stop between the village and the city centre leading to worse times!  The X40 should go via P&R on the way to the village, it is not necessary to go via again on the way into town.

The X40 should return to pre April route so that it is the same as current Service 11.  Drop second loop (south bound) around Kingswells Avenue, this adds unnecessary time, wastes fuel, causes problems (particularly with bendy's) turning left from Kingswood Drive into Kingswells Crescent and at school times bus is held up trying to turn left from Kingswells Avenue onto Kingswood Drive.

If a way to speed up the transition at the traffic lights from Old Lang Stracht/Lang Stracht that would be great.  The lights at the P&R seem to react quickly enough so the technology exists.

A 20-30 minute frequency peak time and hourly off-peak service would be satisfactory.

Do we need to reduce the amount of pick up points in the village?  If people are not getting on or off the bus at a stop then it isn't holding the service up?

We have to be realistic and accept First will not reduce their prices for day tickets just for Kingswells residents and that a lot of hold ups are due to traffic, not really First's fault.

Having been gifted pair bus passes by friend as a 'funny idea for a present'. My husband and I decided to leave the cars at home and try the buses. We used bus stop 17. However, we discovered the buses around the village were so unreliable we drove up to the bus stop by the church on A944, hoping to catch a bus there. Again the buses never arrived on time.

The frequency of the buses not arriving on time or not even turning up was nearly 4 or 5 day.

We persisted for several weeks. I eventually stopped using the buses, as I had missed to many appointments and arrived late to meet friends.

My husband continued with the buses, but only because he had flexible work hours. If he had a set time, he would have been late nearly everyday. Which for bus services is outrageous.

And before the bus companies say catch an earlier bus - he tried that. On several occasions he waited over an hour for buses -

Buses are unreliable...

I think:

  • All buses need to be reliable, arriving on time.
  • Frequent buses - every 15 minutes.
  • Routes need to be direct from the village, into town avoiding the P&R and avoiding the going outside the village.

P&R adds extra time and effort to a journey if you come from Kingswells. For bus services to work they need to be convenient for the user, reliable, frequent and comfortable. Going to the P & R from Kingswells is inconvenient, unreliable and uncomfortable,may as well continue driving into town.

Quicker journey time from Kingswells to Union street area - Number 11 service journey time is ideal, X40 can take too long

Very slow. Always seems to be late and not reliable.

We need a faster route that provides a reliable service by running more on time

The bus service is unreliable, since the timetable changed in April the bus is persistently late every morning.

I get the bus at 6.28 in the morning to get to work for 7am, the 6.28 time seems to be there just for the sake of it as there has not been a single time that the bus was there when it is supposed to be. It seems like the drivers have a different timetable they stick to as even after being late, it stops for a while at the terminus - beyond frustrating when people are trying to get to work on time.

In the past few months x40 has been used for training new drivers pretty much every morning, while I appreciate people need to be trained up for the job, this should not affect the service so badly.

The long short of it is the bus service deteriorated since the changes made in April, not only did the price for 12 week passes increased but also we are getting even less of a reliable service, however, I have got no other choice as I do not drive and depend entirely on the bus service to get me to and back from work.

Cut out the park and ride.

A more direct circular route would be less likely to run late and as a consequence hopefully will be better used.

I like the idea of systems installed for triggering the lights on the lang stracht into kingswells for the bus. If the park and ride is to remain in the route it would be helpful for there too. 6 minutes of the journey can easily be spent waiting at both lights together.

I no longer use the bus service as it is unreliable and takes too long to get into town. However I am filling this out on behalf of my son and husband who tend to use the bus to attend football matches, and commute to and from town.

The services including the park and ride have all become unreliable.

I used to utilise the P&R to commute to work in town it was a great service then, it travelled from the P&R directly into town, no stopping along the way. In town in about 20 mins this is how this service should have stayed not stopping off at every stop along already we'll serviced routes! It was concieved as an alternative way to attract workers to leave their cars and use public transport not as another bus route for already well serviced areas.

Resurrect the old P&R service, park car, get on clean modern bus and no stopping until the top of union street.

The route needs to be faster to make it attractive to more people. This could be done by:

  • install devices in the buses to activate the traffic lights at the P&R and at the end of Lang Stracht.
  • Reduce the number of pick up points. Which stops could be removed?
  • Change the route to cut out Rosemount - time to cross the junction is excessive. What alternatives are available?
  • Are there any other route changes required?
