Consultation

An extract from the "other" site.

Despite your three separate requests "for a thread which advised the community on KCC thoughts, to allow residents to post if they agree or not" the decision has been taken not to do this, but to post all kingswells planning applications instead.
I am sure readers will decide if the community views are being determined and expressed.
Or if "KCC make dozens of decisions every month on behalf of the community"

and

I agree with the above comments.
What is the purpose of a KCC website, if not to inform the community what is being done in there name? Anyone can check planning applications on the ACC website.

Ian,

You may have read the above comments, posted by different individuals and requesting that the proposal I put forward to be implemented.

I am not looking for great detail/time to be spent on the above.  Just looking for basic views from KCC.

Is that too much to ask?  Thanks

KCC Consultation?

When I posted the comments below I didn't realise you had discussed this on Kingswells . com. KCC don't have an account and don't actively monitor comments made on the site.

You say KCC don't consult with the public, but you give us no credit for the extremely big consultation that took place for the Main Issues Repor where we:

  • researched a huge amout of material
  •  held public meetings
  • posted summaries of that material on the web
  • prepared a complete newsletter on the topic
  • posted information on the noticeboards
  • issued cards which made it easier for Kingswells residents to express their views
  • delivered newsletters with some assistance from the public
  • we went round some doors to see if folk needed a hand to complete the cards, or to see if they needed further information
  • stood outside the Co-op for about 3 hours on each of the two weekends prior to submission of the views to ACC to see if folk needed a hand to complete the cards, or to see if they needed further information
  • collected cards and gauged the many views expressed before we hand delivered the cards to ACC

Before and after the consultation we had various meetings with ACC to ensure that we provided the public with the correct information and that the planners interpreted the cards correctly.

As a result of the efforts of your community council Kingswells responded with more than 50% of the total response from Aberdeen. The detail of the responses was huge - I can't remember the exact number of points that were counted on each card - somewhere between 30 and 40 points on each card.

Do you still think KCC don't consult? Have you checked the 'Consultation' Menu on this site?

Your Views

Do you have a view on the parking problems at the shops?

What about the future of the 14 bus.

Or any of the current planning applications. There is at least one application I thought you may have commented on.

What about the Civic Square? Is there a place in a democratic society for blackmail? Should 50 businessmen be able to sway ACC to ignore public opinion?

What do you think about the traffic lights at the roundabout end of the Lang Stracht. Should they be part time, or full time, or removed?

What do you think about the traffic lights at the Kingswells roundabout. Should they be part time, or full time?

What about the entrance into Fairley Road from the Kingswells roundabout? Should it be closed to cars? Or in the other direction should there be a 'no right turn'?

Are you happy with the right turn into Kingswells at the Park and Ride.

Is there anything in the minutes you wish to comment on.

Is there any thing you think KCC should be doing but are not - except consulting with the public. I think I know your views on that already.

KCC can't form a view that includes public feed back unless we have feed back from the public. Much of the time we need to give a quick response, and we can't hold back until we consult with the Forum.

Apologies, I did post on the

Apologies,

I did post on the parking issue at the shops, post 2.  I was at work and didn't log in.

Bus - Use it or loose it.  Too many empty buses travelling too and from Kingswells.

Civic Square,- I hope they don't ignore my opinion, I'm all for it.  It appears that a consultation has taken place where there is no link as to who has been consulted.  Blackmail is a very strong word, who is inferring that this is the case?

Lang Stracht Lights - OK, cars have to queue for a few minutes due to the lights that are provided for cyclists safety.  Keep it as it is, if drivers dont like, get a bike.

Kingswells Roundabout - part time, not enough through flow of traffic to justify full time.

Fairley Road Junction, both, no right turns, buses and cars.  Its both dangerous, crossing 2 lanes of oncoming traffic and unnecessary, its a short walk to the stop on the A944 and main road through the village. = less collisions and no right turn out, safer at the lights.

P&R - no problem with right turn, not aware there was one.

Comment - Its good to consult.

Thats twice you have stated you think you know my views already.  Why ask a question when you have already made your mind up on an issue?

My only view on the subject is that I would like to be able to contribute to the community, nothing more.

Please do not take this as a dig at you/KCC.  I am only trying to suggest/contribute ideas to help the community and hopefully get more of the community invlolved.

Thanks
