An Extract From Peter Stephen's Article From Newsletter February 2009

The question of
the Kingswells approach to the A944 roundabout keeps popping up in my
e-mails. You will be aware that prior to the Christmas break,
adjustments to improve safety were made to the
"arrows" and
roadmarkings in that area. It was always known that we might have to
look at a Phase 2 improvement - and that time may be approaching. How
would readers feel about the lower entrance to the Old Village being
closed off possibly with the exception of the buses? This would avoid
crossing the traffic lines with a right hand turn after leaving the
roundabout.

Too many vehicles are crossing over at peak
times in a highly dangerous manoeuvre - and a number of near misses are
being witnessed. The exit from the old village would, of course,
continue, but only with a left turn. Fairley Road would then lose some
of the "passing through" traffic when these "slowing" measures are
implemented there.

Making the junction a no

Making the junction a no right turn from the roundabout would both increase traffic flow so that it doesn't back up onto the roundabout.  It would also stop RTC's where drivers are going into the rear of cars that are stationary, waiting for vehicles waiting to turn right into the junction.
