REMARKS

As you can see from this report it has been
relatively quiet in the way of reported incidents since the last meeting in
December.  This is very reassuring as the
festive period can cause an increase in the volume of youth related calls or
vandalisms we deal with.  I am happy to
see this has not been the case in Kingswells.

During December I ran a traffic initiative
in the A1 policing area, which takes in Dyce, Bucksburn, Bridge of  Don, Danestone as well as Kingswells.  During this operation speed checks were
carried out and other traffic issues addressed, including use of the Park And
Ride bus road, concerns relating to Kingswells roundabout, speeding on Fairley
Road and parking at Kingswells School.

There are a number of cars that use the bus
road during rush hour periods.  The
cameras are still not repaired and this requires to be addressed.  During physical checks several motorists have
been reported.

The roundabout issues has been improved
slightly since the priority arrows have been altered to allow traffic in the
right lane to continue straight on towards Cults.  There is still an issue with traffic turning
right towards Fairley Road.  As the
layout is still new it is being monitored by the roads department.

I educated a number of motorists speeding
in excess of the 30 mph limit on Fairley Road.
This disappointingly included residents of that area.  The "20's plenty" advisory signs
seem to be ignored by the majority of drivers.
This will hopefully be resolved once the speed tables are in place.

Parking at the primary school continues to
be an issue at drop off and pick up times.
I have arranged that letters be sent by Inspector Munro to the owners of
cars seen flouting the law.  This is in
addition to prosecuting drivers when appropriate.

At the last meeting KCC reported problems with discarded bottles etc in the area of Derbeth Park and the footpath nearby.  KCC and I have kept in touch and I carried out high profile patrols in the area over the weekend of 3rd and 4th January .  There were no youths seen at these times nor any obvious evidence of groups drinking.  I will continue to monitor this area, and liaise with KCC who is helping me greatly with this.

I am very pleased that the carol singing event organised by KCC was very well attended.
This indicated to me that there is a good community spirit within the village.  This was reinforced by the numbers that also attended the Christmas Party held by  the Community Centre.  I am grateful to both committees for my invitation and enjoyed both events.

I wish you all a healthy year and look forward to working with you all during 2009.

Regards
