I try my best to keep up with Community issues, but I have to say I find your website very hard to navigate. Having to scroll down through the list of upcoming events is a real pain. It looks as though there is nothing on the homepage. Is there any chance you could use some of your grant to implement a more user friendly site?
Problem Fixed
Fiona,
I was using another machine and see the problem you were describing. Can you please confirm that it is now fixed.
Thanks again for your feedback. It is essential that people identify problems to allow them to be resolved.
Thanks
Ian
Problem fixed
Thanks Ian, it's so much easier to use now.
Your help is much appreciated,

You Comment
Fiona,
Thanks for the feed back. You are the first person to comment in this way.
You say there is nothing on the homepage, but every article starts on the home page. Each article is put into one or more categories, and the Site Menu at the left hand side of the page has all the categories on it to make it easy to find the type of articles that interest you.
The site is fully indexed. So just type a word or two and press the search button.
You are a registered user so you should be able to see 'Recent ' on the top menu to see recent articles. Everyone can see recent forum entries like this one from 'Recent Comments' on the left panel menu.
There is also help on the use of the site at the 'About Us' / 'How To' menu. General use of the site is explained here
If have any specific requirements I will consider your suggestions.

web site
I didn't explain myself properly, I meant that on a page such as this one, I have to scroll way down through the info on the left to get to the info I want. It looks as if the page is blank.
I noticed how few comments there are on your forum and wondered if part of the problem may be that the site isn't particularly user friendly.
You do have user instructions, but to be honest who wants to sit and read instructions?
I'm just trying to provide constructive criticism. If you, the Community Council, are happy with your website and feel it's being well used by the community then that's all that matters!
Site Menu
Fiona, as a registered user you can use two forms of the site menu. One is located under Navigation and one under Members.
Which form do you prefer, and would it be better to have the menu expanded when you first access the site?
If others have views then please feel free to jump in.
Thanks
Ian
I am still puzzled
Fiona,
Thanks again for your input.
To access the Forum you can pick the Forum menu either at the top menu bar, or the left menu bar under Site Menu.
I am puzzled about how you are accessing the pages. If you are having problems then other people may be having the same problem and I would like to address your issues.
I think the general use of the site is intuitive and user friendly, but if I am wrong then I need people like yourself to identify the issues. So please, if there are issues I will address them.
I agree that people don't want to read instructions, and that is why I prepared a video that explains the use of the site - I really need to re-do this as the quality of the audio is poor, but it is better than nothing.
The use of the forum is poor, and to date we have been using kingswells.com forum. However, this in its self is not well used and KCC don't have control of what we can post on that site. The spending of the £6,000 is really the first time we have tried using our own forum.
I hope this explains away some of your concerns.
If anyone has any comments good or bad please let us know. We will not be offended and will try to improve the site, but without feed back this is difficult.
Fiona, can you please take time out to explain how you are having to 'scroll way down through the info on the left to get to the info I want'
Thanks
Ian
web site
Hi Ian,
when I go to new forum topic and click on a topic eg. Com Council Website, I then have to scroll down through the page that comes up on my screen to get past navigation, upcoming events and the calendar, to find the article.

Up to date Browser
The website has been tested on various browsers including:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer
- Mozilla FireFox
- Apple Safari
- Opera
If you are using an old brower and are having problems - try downloading the latest version of your browser, or one of the above.Sounds like a browser error
Fiona,
I have never seen this myself, but it sounds like a browser problem. Can you go to the menu bar on your browser and select 'help' and then 'about' and tell me what browser you are using. I need the name and the version.
Thanks
Ian
